Love the eyelashes. I've been thinking about making one since I started watching the kitten cam, and noticed in comments that you can't buy them anymore. Your version is inspiring. Thanks for posting.

I remember back in 8th grade (I was 13), we took a sewing class and we had to sew something from the catalog that was given to us. I chose a very large ice cream cone. I remember struggling with the sewing machine, you know, how to thread it and everything. Even the guys in my class sewed quicker than I did.

I grew up sewing without a sewing machine since my mom did most of the sewing (on the sewing machine) and there was never really time for me to learn, so I learned basic stitching by hand. Sewing always brings back sad memories, for some reason. I can't really remember why.

awww. maybe your mom knows?

I was taught how to sew at a VERY young age. by hand at about 7 years, machine by 11. I watched my mom so much I could make costumes without a pattern by age 17. I actually don't like sewing! LOL But I like the results. By grade 10 I was making most of my own clothes.... well except for Jeans LOL Believe it or not, I failed home economics and sewing in school. I hated following instructions and just did things the way I thought they should be made LOL

You definitely have great talent in sewing. Nowadays, not many know how to sew full clothing or anything of that sort. I can't believe you failed sewing in school--a little bit ironic, but schools are like that. They go by the book and look past talent which I hated. In school, I think I got a B in sewing and economics and a 100% in wood. I helped my dad build things with wood since I was nine years old.

I did the traditional "female" crafts until about 4 years ago. Then I decided to try my hand at renovations. I loved it, but then got too sick to do such heavy work. Hopefully this fall I can get back to it. I want to paint the whole house and brighten up the kitty jungle porch with a fake sky and clouds on the ceiling LOL

It's kind of cool seeing how widespread our creative talents can get. There's something about making nice things by hand that is so satisfying! :) Do you have any pics of things you made from wood?

Well, no. My dad built everything mostly. Us, kids, just helped him out. Like holding the wood, hammering, drilling, things like that.

Did you sew this yourself? Very cute kitty, btw. I like its expression.
